When designing a research instrument, there are many different issues to consider in the development of a survey. Please address the following issues in terms of designing a research project:

1. When and why would you use open ended questions in a survey instead a closed ended question? Provide an example of an open ended and a closed ended question as it would relate to measuring the same variable for a pet care facility. Be very specific in your response.
2. If you are designing a symmetric scale, what are the pros and cons of using a neutral point within the scale? Be specific in your answer.
3. Distinguish among a Likert scale, a semantic differential scale, and a Stapel scale. Provide an example of each scale that a pet care facility would use to measure the same subject/issue.
