When I look at the term liberal and conservative I see two different mindsets that seem to be further diverging on policies and how each party identifies. The parties are pulling further from the center of politics and further to the right or left in pursuit of their goals. The unfortunate thing is as the political parties move further apart, the people suffer it stalls government from doing what is right for all people and getting the everyday work of the government done. The left and the right have pet projects that are put into bills that are needed impacting budgets, road work and public safety. Politicians need to be able to work through differences and provide basic services for their constituents. Some of the policies I relate to liberals are large government and social safety nets, universal health care, and gun control. Policies I associate with conservatives is small government, support the second amendment, private health care, self reliance.
