Imagine a replication of Craik and Lockhart's study was done in which three groups were asked to engage in different study strategies. After reading a list of words, one group of participants had to use maintenance rehearsal (i.e., repeating the word over and over), one group had to use elaborative rehearsal (i.e., connecting the word to a category) and a third group had to use a different elaborative technique (ie., using the word in a sentence). Explain why an ANOVA would be the best statistical analysis to use, and provide an example of another study in which an independent measures ANOVA would be warranted.
