When working at the management level within a hotel it is important to know the strategies that are utilized for increasing and keeping revenue in a hotel. In Week One, I spoke with you about Gaining a Competitive Edge. While looking through this presentation, you will need to list the 13 strategies that are suggested to gaining a Competitive Edge over another hotel. Students will work independently, and hotels will be assigned in class in Week 2. Each individual will be responsible for researching assigned techniques on the list that was created using very specific examples. Students are required to submit their findings in a formal report. It will not be acceptable to copy and paste material from any web source. You must interpret the information provided and organize it in your own words. Each individual will create a map showing the location of the hotel assigned as well as a 6 mile radius including important locations around your property. This should include, but is not limited to, the following: Other Hotels, Churches, Schools, Sport/Community Centres, Big Business, Construction Sites, Funeral Homes, Event Venues. After listing the locations, there should be a detailed description of what kind of guests these locations will bring to your hotel. Each student will prepare a plan for each of their strategies including the following information: a) Main hotel in competition with b) The strategies that are being utilized c) What steps that you took to implement each strategy d) The results of your research e) How the strategy could prove beneficial to gaining revenue for your property
