Question:
When you evaluate your daily intake, in thinking about the following food groups: grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, meat, beans and fats, do you think that your diet reflects the nutrtition recommendations that you have read about in chapter 8? Look at Table 8-I. Do you consume enough of the essential nutrients, including water? Does your diet contain too much sugar or fat? Does your diet include antioxidants and phytochemicals? Do you take any supplements? Do you cat fast foods? Do you prepare food at home or cat out most of the time? How does nutrition fit in with the dimensions of wellness? Sometimes we gain awareness by keeping a food diary. When we see what we eat on a daily basis we are often surprised by what we discover. Take a look at the websitc ChooseMyPlate.gov for more nutrition information. Also, take a look at the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension).
