When you interview a client it's important to determine where they live and how long they've lived there so that you can determine the approriate Venue. See DOJ Jurisdiction and Venue discussion and guidelines. Click on the Court Locator (part of the US District Court Northern District of Texas) and to the left of your screen (below the USNDTX seal) you will see box that says "Locate Venue by City." Practice by typing in "Richardson"...notice that Richardson is split between Dallas and Collin Counties...you need to make sure and confirm your client's address and their county before selecting the proper venue. Create a Memo (see template) and use the client's city to determine the "Proper Venue" to file their bankruptcy (e.g. Fort Worth Division, US Northern District)
