Continuous Improvement $-$ Our organization is competing with much better funded schools that aren't community colleges, therefor we can never rest on our laurels, we have to always look at how our processes can be improved to better provide our students with what they need.

Passion for our Mission $-$ If a leader doesn't believe in the mission of higher education, they will be less driven in their work, and that will bleed through to lower level employees. All leaders have to see the value in our mission, and demonstrate that with their actions.

Educating Subordinates $-$ Our industry has an abnormally high turnover rate, especially in some departments. Every leader needs to equip their subordinates to the best of their abilities to rise to the occasion if a higher position needs filled.

Adaptability $-$ In higher ed$,$ changes get pushed down constantly, when laws change at the federal or state level, or standards regarding some aspect of education change, you must lead the way in meeting these changes head on$,$ so your team can follow you in confidently.
