Why do you think it was necessary for several different families to establish one company together? Assess their unanimous decision-making system by referring t its merits and demerits. (story below)
Sanwa Shurui was established by 3 Japanese sake breweries for joint bottling in 1958. The next year, another brewery participated in the company. Even now each of the four families possesses a quarter of the entire stock, and provides the presidency in rotation. Each of the four representative directors is from each family. They discuss any managerial topic together.
Generally speaking, the four representatives decision-making would be time-consuming. If someone disagreed, you could fall apart. This unique group decision-making system is from the idea that anyone can make a mistake alone and that four different ideas make something better. This merit gets better than the demerit of slow decision-making. This philosophy means more subjective ideas get closer to an objective idea. As a matter of fact, Sanwa Shurui has been existing till now without doing any financial and real estate transactions during the bubble economy period. It shows the group decision-making has worked very efficiently.
