Why does legislation identify protected class?

To make the distinction of one person or group of people from others based on a characteristic$/$factor

To provide for specific groups of people to receive less favorable treatment than others based on class

To ensure everyone receives fair and equitable treatment

To identify groups of people who are automatically eligible for Federal assistanc
