Why is "Effort" the last step in HBS professor Laura Huang's EDGE system? Because it doesn't matter who you are, there's going to be perceptions that are going to be made about you. Knowing the perceptions that others have of us and what those underlying perceptions 2₂ allows us to flip those perceptions in our favor so that others can see our effort in the most positive light. Because it doesn't matter who you are, you have to work hard to get to where you want to be. It's important to let others know what our goals are so that they can help us get there. Knowing others are there to help us allows us to make our hard work and effort work harder for us when it really counts. Because figuring out the value you bring to any situation is key to career success. Knowing what are your superpowers, those core qualities that make you who you are, will allow you to truly stand out in the workplace.
