With the online learning environment, I do find it easy to listen to others with empathy. Some weeks we don't have a discussion post and I get a bit down because I love interacting with others and reading their thoughts. This is my first time doing online classes and I feel so comfortable because I believe others are listening to me with empathy, and want the best for me. An easy way for me to listen to others with empathy is by turning all distractions off including phone, tv and giving every post my undivided attention. Also it's been easy listening with empathy because this course is full of students from all around the world with diverse backgrounds. Using empathy to listen helps me with fully understanding the students beyond the post.
When it comes to feeling like I am being heard with empathy I can honestly say yes I do believe others are listening to me with empathy. For example my academic advisor, she sometimes is not available when I am, however she always make it her job to follow up with any questions or concerns I may have. With that being said SNHU always have someone to speak to with answers and concern and they are always aware and knowledgeable because they care. That is one of the reasons decided to earn my degree from this institution, they really care for you.
