Question:
Working memory is a limited capacity system. As you have read, there are three components of working memory (phonological loop, visuospatial sketch pad, and the central executive). You now know that verbal tasks depend on the phonological loop and spatial tasks depend on the visuospatial sketch pad. Often in our everyday lives we are in situations that overload our working memories and we don't remember everything we want to. Think of some everyday situations in which two tasks are done at once.
Give an example of each of the three types of overload: 1. two verbal tasks, 2. two visual tasks, and 3. one verbal and one visual task.
Do you think one of these is generally more difficult that another? If so, which one?
