Working with the temperaments is especially helpful when problem-solving. In this exercise, you will have the opportunity to look through the lens of the four temperaments: Guardian, Artisan, Idealist, and Rational. If you are not clear about the characteristics of each, please use the information from the Please Understand Me II book.
Instructions:
-
Type your name and your dominant temperament. ( DOMINANT IS GUARDIAN ).
-
Choose a work-related dilemma/problem/situation that is bugging you. Briefly discuss the situation providing enough information so that I am aware of whats going on.
-
Discuss in detail how your dominant temperament wants to handle this situation. Discuss why you think that your dominant temperament wants to react this way.
-
Then, using the lens of the other temperaments, discuss how each might handle the situation. For example, the restaurant where you work keeps running out of dinner menus. What do you do? If you are a dominant Idealist, you probably want someone else (or yourself) to grow from this experience. In this case, you may want to give the employee who is typically shy the opportunity to develop a solution so they can grow from the situation.
