Scenario:

Liam has worked as one of five caretakers at the local college of further education for seven years. Recently he saw an advertisement for a caretaker supervisor's position at the same college, at a higher rate of pay. Liam was pleased to be invited for interview and duly attended. The interview went very well until Liam was asked which part of Ireland he came from. Liam replied that he had never been to Ireland but had an Irish accent because he and his family were Irish travellers, and he still lived in a caravan. Liam was disappointed not to be given the job. He knew the other applicants did not have his level of experience. Liam now believes that the real reason he was not appointed is his ethnicity.
