Improving Project Quality in Project Management

According to the PMBOK GUIDE, the purpose of quality is to conform to the outputs or the process itself to requirements. Quality control (X-bar, Six Sigma, 100%inspection mode, Taguchi Method) consists of inspection, measurement, and testing to verify that the project outputs meet acceptance criteria defined during the quality planning stage. Quality improvement (QI) is a systemic and formal approach that analyzes the practice performance and efforts to improve the performance. There are three critical components of project quality management, and they are broken down into three main processes: Quality Planning, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.

The project manager and the team need to know how to approach the project through understanding, communication, and team management to improve the project's quality. The best way to understand project quality management is to practice the four pillars as customer satisfaction, process improvement, fact-based management, and empowered performance (Schwalbe, 2017). Project quality management processes are essential because they help us understand a project's control cost and establish standards, including the steps to achieve and confirm those standards. Effective quality management of a project helps lower the risk of product failure or unsatisfied and unhappy clients. For best practice to quality control process is to set quality standards and focus on creating an operational strategy to deliver quality, Review the results, get feedback, and make the improvements as needed. Therefore, maintaining the consistency of the project quality is essential, making sure the project is defined, control commit to the quality, sticking and focus to the project requirements, managing quality, performing quality assurance, and most importantly, following the project processes (project manager.com).
