Based on this theory, the social worker must consider the person's environment to determine their needs and strategies for working with them. Interdisciplinary collaboration is challenging because each discipline has its own rules and challenges. I work with children in the foster care system. The nature of the work requires interdisciplinary collaboration. Ideally, all people working with the family should focus on their well-being by focusing on the social determinants of health while addressing trauma-related behaviors and those caused by physical illnesses.
