From the Malow's hierarchy of needs, the Pepsi products and brands can be classified in self fulfillment or self actualisation level. This is because these beverages are not a necessity, but are used to achieve a need of fulfillment of luxury. Consumers use these commodities to make their lives more comfortable. Consumers use the five step process in making decisions on which products to buy by comparing the Pepsi products to other substitute products in the market before arriving to the decision of purchasing the products offered by the Pepsi. The factor that may mostly influence decision making in buying the products is the financial status of the consumer. This is because most people may not afford them therefore, foregoing the products or opting for a cheaper option. In the Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the products can be classified in the self fulfillment level since they are just needed to make the consumers more comfortable.

An intrinsic product cue can be defined as the product characteristic that is inherent in the product itself, that is the attribute associated with inside of the product.
Extrinsic cue on the other hand for a product characteristic is defined as that attribute which is not associated directly with the product itself or within its inherent capacity. It is externally related to the product or the service that is being offered.
So let's say for the company Pepsi, we can have the following intrinsic and extrinsic cues:
1. Flavour and the texture of Pepsi is its intrinsic cue. It means the customer would percieve a better product quality or not depending upon what flavour are they getting, if they really are liking the flavour and then they are buying the product based on the flavour, then it is the example of intrinsic cue.
2. Now, if the consumer would have extrinsic cue for the same, he would thus be percieve the product quality on the basis of external factors like price of Pepsi, or the brand that Pepsi is a good and reputated brand, thus the flavour would be good only.
