Speed is the rate of movement or distance divided by time. When you are driving

on the highway and see a speed limit sign that says $60$ mph $($miles per hour$),$ what

does that tell you? It tells you how far you will travel if you drive at the speed limit

for one hour, in this case $60$ miles.

How fast you get to your destination is the average speed over your trip. You will

not constantly go $60$ mph$.$ You will probably speed up and slow down several times

during your trip.

In this investigation, you will calculate the average speed of various activities, such

as crawling, walking, and jumping. You will do this over both a $5-$ and $10-$meter

distance. You will then calculate other time and distance intervals using

your results.
