Explain.I chose to research gun violence. The study I used is called "The Relationship Between Gun Ownership and Firearm Homicide Rates in the United States, 1981-2010" American Journal of Public Health (AJPH) (2013). The paper defined gun violence as any firearm- related homicides. They took statistics from all 50 states over 30 years using CDC death records and BRFSS data on gun ownership. What they found was states that had higher gun owner rates had higher firearm homicide rates. For every 1% increase in gun ownership the firearm homicide rate rose 0.9%. There is a strong connection in gun availability and gun related deaths. They suggested passing more legislation on firearm regulation.
