Write a reply to the following post using the following criteria. I have decided to do my research on Gang Violence. Definitions: Gang Affiliation: Repeated and sustained involvement with a peer group identified as engaging in illegal activities. Gang Violence: Includes such offenses such as assault, robbery, and firearms possession committed in the context of gang rivalry or membership. It's not very often that I see much on media reports for gang violence, which is curious to me since I live in an area where gang violence is "hush hush" but it's the elephant in the room. From what I gathered, media likes to protray such gang violence as violent, uncontrollable, and ravage. It's not a surprise that this is a stereotype as there are so many different kinds of gangs (white supremacy gangs, latino gangs, etc.) According to the research and the website I found, it is important to note that these stereotypes are broken with the actual data that is collected. The studies can prove that with the knowledge gathered, it will help with intervention and prevention. Studies proved that with multiple randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental designs, this helped tremendously. Some services would invlude any cognitive behavioral classes/therapy, mentorships, community based iniatives like afterschool programs, along with family-focused therapies.
