write a report (five page minimum) about the similarities and differences between WINDOWS and LINUX. The report should not be about what user software comes with an Operating System or how it's marketed or sold. It should specifically be about the kernel and what technical features the kernel has.

It should cover some similarities, but should focus mostly on the differences. In particular you should focus on the most relevant differences which shows the contrasts between the different kernels. For a given difference, it should explain why the different kernels might have made those different decisions about what to implement or how to implement it. It should also explain in what circumstances a particular choice might be advantageous or disadvantageous.
