There are several key components of a high-quality early childhood program including program structure, the classroom environment, the teacher/child interactions, and the quality of the teacher's knowledge and capabilities (Bassok & Galdo, 2015; Flores et al., 2016; Planta et al., 2016). Out of all of these, I think that the overall quality of a teacher/child's interactions can have an enormous impact on the quality of the experience for the young child (Bassok & Galdo, 2015; Planta et al., 2016). Teachers who urture and create an involved attachment to the children in their care have a large impact on the child's overall growth (Bassok & Galdo, 2015). Unfortunately, teachers in higher priced preschools and kindergartens show a higher level of attachment, nurturing, and overall knowledge of important processes that can improve the learning experience for young children whereas those in ower-income areas show the opposite of these desired conditions (Bassok & Galdo, 2015). think that a knowledgeable teacher can make all the difference because not only are they aware of the types of scaffolding needed to take young children to their next level, but they also recognize the types of resources and materials that are needed to create an optimum classroom. Understanding that chore centers like a kitchen, a nature table, a puppet theater with puppets, a stage with costumes, a well-stocked classroom library, blocks, iPads with engaging Apps for creation, and a craft/writing center are all mportant areas to include in a classroom. Knowledgeable teachers will also understand how to create a program structure that is conducive to optimal learning. Knowing that an early morning meeting that includes talk of the day, season, weather, and an activity can help young children understand their own world and support their beginning understanding of community. Creating routines and procedures that help young children understand how to use the resources in the centers is another important role of a knowledgeable teacher.
