Write biographical essays about important anthropologists who were also people of color. This assignment is required and will make up 20% of your course grade. You will choose 2 individuals from the list below and they shall be the subjects of your essays.
- Who is this person? This includes names, birth and death dates, birthplace, spouse, ethnicity, and any other interesting facts about them as a person.
- What did they do? This includes which subfield of anthropology they worked in, what techniques they used, what people groups they studied, what theoretical background they used in their work, and any other interesting information about their work.
- What was their main contribution to anthropology? This will include any information about the importance of their work to anthropology in general. You may have to read between the lines sometimes to get this information.
