Write Project Analysis and Class Reflection

Purpose/Argument: Explain your rhetorical purpose(s) and argument How Does Using Social Media Affect the Mental Welfare of Adolescents?. What type(s) of argument did you employ for this project (eg. fact, definition, evaluation, causal, or a combination)? Then, consider your argument in terms of Toulmin Schema (ie. reason/support, evidence claim, qualifier, warrant, etc). Engage in some analytical breakdown of your own argument with use of Toulmin.

Audience: Who is the target audience for your argument? Explain why you chose to reach this specific audience. Appeals: How did you use rhetorical appeals (pathos, logos, ethos, kairos) to present your argument effectively for your target audience? Provide some specific examples. Genre/Design: How did you design and organize your project? Consider aspects like uses of visuals, subtitles/headings, and other structural or design elements. Why did you make these genre, format, and/or design choices? Style and Tone: Comment on any stylistic choices that you made for your project that you believe enhanced the connection between you and your target audience (eg. tone, word choice, level of formality, voice, etc).

Class Reflection and Self-Reflection

Comment on your experience as part of our class community. I certainly enjoyed having all of you as part of our class, and I hope that you feel the same. Start by considering our course theme, followed by your experience in the class. Then, conduct some evaluation of your participation in our community. Work to be as specific as possible with your reflection.

• Course Theme: By the end of the term, do you think that "everything is an argument" or anything can be an argument if it's expressing a point of view/perspective? Why or why not?
• Class Reflection: At the end of every course, it is helpful to think through what you learned and how you may use the information and skills. What areas have you improved, and what areas still need practice? How might you use the knowledge/practice you have learned from class in the future (both your future as a college student and your life beyond college)? Feel free to reference specific assignments or activities to illustrate your points. What will you take from this class to apply to other classes, the workplace, and/or other areas of your life?
• Participation Self-Reflection: How was your participation throughout the term with reading and writing tasks (in connection with course content), as well as with collaborative tasks? For example, consider your participation in our class community through discussion board and peer review activities, as well as with collaborating with your instructor through emails, texts, and/or conferences. Please be as specific as possible with your self-reflection of your own participation and engagement in the class. What are your strengths and areas for improvement for participation within class? Going forward, what would you like to improve on during your college career (for participation specifically)?
