Write up an analysis of the Tallahassee BeanCounters case that is comprised of the following Four Parts:
Question:
1. Identify red flags and possible suspects in the case and state your rationale. This discussion should include your analysis of the account by type such as sales versus inventory, wages and hours, purchase orders invoices and receipts along with a discussion of any overlapping job functions such as recording sales and making deposits, requisitioning and receiving merchandise, clerical and supervisory functions, etc.
2. Identify where internal controls over personnel, material and accountancy are weak and who is in a position to exploit those weaknesses.
3. Describe how you might perpetrate fraud based on your understanding of the BeanCounters’ processes.
4. Determine what additional information is needed.
a. Write requests to specific individuals you believe could provide the information you want making sure your letters do not “tip off” any suspects. Be specific in your description.
b. Write up additional requests that you may want to make outside the BeanCounters for additional information. These might include invoices from the phone company, property registration records or even surveillance data on the parking lot.
