Question: You are a Database Consultant with Wolf Software, Inc. and have been assigned to develop a relational database application for a small non - profit
You are a Database Consultant with Wolf Software, Inc. and have been assigned to develop a relational database application for a small nonprofit group, Acme Donation Centers ADC ADC has only one location but is looking at adding several locations in the next couple of years. ADC accepts donations from the community and uses volunteers to pack and distribute donations. Volunteers participate in other volunteer activities as well. Currently ADC tracks volunteer information using an old excel worksheet. They have finally decided to automate their record keeping with a relational database. ADC has about ten employees. The employees are not very technical so the database needs to be easy for employees to use.
ADC wants a new database to record their information. The database needs to keep track of events, volunteer information including emergency contact information, activities the volunteer is interested in helping and events the volunteer has participated on By keeping track of the volunteer's interests, only volunteers will be notified for activities they are interested helping with. Event information is stored in the database. Events are Assembling Boxes of Food, Fundraising, and Deliveries to families. The database needs to track which volunteers participated in an event and number of hours participated. ADS would also like to know how many volunteers participated per event. All volunteers must complete and sign a Registration and Liability form before they are allowed to undertake an event. The liability form includes information such as who signed parent or selfsigned date signed. Because families normally volunteer, many volunteers share the same address as do emergency contacts. ADC at this time does not track the people receiving the donations but may want to in the future.
