Question:
you are given a number of packets and your job is to...
In this unit, you are given a number of packets and your job is to extract information from specific protocols only, like Ethernet, IPv4, TCP, UDP, and ARP. In each packet, there are a number of protocols involved in a process, and they are encapsulated inside one packet as explained in Chapter 1. For example, you can find the sequence Ethernet, IPv4 then TCP in one packet.
In all questions, don't give attention to the payload or data that the packet aims to deliver, and focus on different pieces at the header of each protocol included in each packet, then extract the information. All questions start with the Ethernet protocol, and the first byte in any question is the first byte in the Ethernet protocol. A demonstration video about how to extract information from a packet will be provided to you.
In any question, Do the following, and put your answers in the excel sheet in a readable format:
1. If the packet contains Ethernet protocol, then determine (source MAC address, Ethernet type).
2. If the packet contains IPv4 protocol, then determine the following (total length, TTL, header checksum, source IP address, destination IP address).
3. If the packet contains TCP protocol, then determine the following (source port no., destination port no., sequence no., (ACK, RST & SYN) flags). 2
4. If the packet contains UDP protocol, then determine the following (source port no., destination port no., length).
5. If the packet contains ARP protocol, then determine the following (hardware address length, protocol address length, sender hardware address, target hardware address).
Now answer the following questions (I attached an excel format image which they provide me to put the answers, at the end of all the images).
