Corporate asks for your opinion. All meat would be pre-packaged either on site of by an outside entity so that customers could no longer request special orders. There is a Heinen’s (high end grocery store) less than two miles away with slightly higher prices.
The union contract says, “If layoffs in a classification are necessary, all part-timers in the classification shall be laid off first and then full-timers to the extent necessary in reverse order of seniority. Employees laid off may bump any less senior employee in a lower rated classification.” (All non-management jobs are lower rated than meatcutter) You have one hundred twenty employees in the lower rated classifications. There is very high turnover in part-time positions.
