On 21st May 2021, Kwaku Issaka entered a shop in Accra to purchase the following items: PlayStation 5 iPhone 13 Three pairs of men's formal shoes made by Alexander McQueen. Kwaku Issaka did not have enough money to pay for all the items at once. He, therefore, entered into an agreement with the shop owner, Mr. Boateng, to pay the outstanding amount owed in five installments. However, after paying the first installment, Kwaku Issaka fell into arrears. The two parties then entered into another agreement under which Kwaku Issaka was to work for Mr. Boateng for a year without any salary for Kwaku Issaka's debt to be forgiven. Kwaku Issaka has started working, but the work is affecting his school activities to the extent that he was last in his class. Kwaku Issaka's parents have approached you as a renowned expert in contract law to assist them. Advise them accordingly. QUESTION 2 (20 marks) Ishmael is a tenant of a home unit owned by Angela. Ten days ago Ishmael received a letter from Angela in which Angela stated that she was 'interested in selling' her flat and asked Ishmael to 'let her know' if he (Ishmael) was willing to buy the home unit for the price of $200,000. Three days later Ishmael posted a letter to Angela in which he agreed to buy the home unit for the price set out in Angela's letter. After receiving Ishmael's letter, Angela telephoned Ishmael and told him that she had decided that she did not want to sell the home unit. Also, Benjamin & Karen while visiting Joana & Bernice doing their national service in Koforidua decided to go shopping for groceries at the supermarket. In the shop, Karen sees a nice ladies bag she likes with a price tag of GH 200.00. Karen, therefore, picked up the bag and walked to the till to make payment. While at the till however, Karen was told that the price displayed on the item was not the same on the receipt at the checkout and that the price was actually higher than the price stated on the price tag. Karen was thus unhappy about the situation and insisted on paying the lower price stated on the price tag, but that was turned down by the supermarket operators. Advise Ishmael, Angela, and Karen as to their legal rights, if any 2 QUESTION 3 Kofi is a wealthy man based in Accra. In November 2021 Kofi bought a brand new Toyota Prado from Mr. 419 and made the full payment towards the purchase. After paying for the car Kofi who had decided to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) for one week pleaded with Mr. 419 to keep the car in his (Mr. 419) garage for the period of his absence from Ghana. Immediately Kofi traveled out of Ghana, Mr. 419 sold the car to Madam Y, who did not know that Kofi had already bought the car. Kofi returned to Ghana after a week away in the UK and went to Mr. 419's garage for his car only to realize that Mr. 419 had sold the car to Madam Y. Kofi is livid about the situation and has sworn to recover the car from Madam Y, after which he will mercilessly deal with Mr. 419. Advise Kofi as to legal rights, if any to recover the car from Madam Y, as well as his cause of action against Mr. 419 if any. Kojo's lawyer has persuaded Kojo to enter into a contract with him for the sale of Kojo's brand new Mercedes Benz, 2020 model at a ridiculously low price. In order to maintain a cordial relationship with his lawyer, Kojo agreed to sell his car to his lawyer at the said price. Upon a sober reflection, Kojo very much regrets selling the car to his lawyer at such a ridiculously low price.
