You are the Human Resources manager, managing compensation for the ABC company from your offices in Vancouver.. Your manager (Fred Moore) has asked you to create a Point Method evaluation for the Company as you have similar Job Families covering; Accounting, Human Resources and Product Planning & Purchasing in all your businesses across the country. You have a business in Montreal. As your Montreal business employs 1000 people you have levels of work that must be defined with appropriate pay structures. Your task is to create a Point Method of evaluation that will work in Montreal. Using the textbook or other information you choose, and the process steps a to f identified on the reverse side of this page. I expect to receive a completed compensation plan for your Montreal business. This will include a chart showing appropriate wages on the vertical axis and the proper points on the horizontal axis. I also want to see the amount of money to be paid for a score of 325 points from the chart you create. To complete the process you must; a) determine compensable factors, you can use the four basic factors. b) determine the weight for the compensable factors, your choice of weight percentage. c) establish five levels of work and the appropriate wording to describe the difference between levels, entry to senior and the four compensable factors. d) apply points for each of the five levels of work by compensable factor. e) using the salary survey levels at the P50 level and the 500 points create a pay graph with the appropriate "wage curve" for Montreal. f) Once the graph has been completed you will report what you will pay for work that has been scored at 325 points in your Montreal business.
