You are the manager of the small Westbrook In- Patient Dialysis Treatment Facility. When you arrived in your office today, you were informed that a patient and the patient's family need to see you regarding a sensitive and significant issue. You contact the family and arrange to meet them in 2 hours. You ask the staff if they have any idea of what may have happened, and no one has any knowledge of any problems. At the appointed time, you meet with the patient, Mrs. Janice Lowery, and the patient's family. They explain to you that the patient did not wish for anyone outside of the immediate family to know that she was in your facility. They had requested that no information be provided to anyone calling or requesting a room number. However, it seems that one of your staff, Jane, had posted to social media that Mrs. Lowery was at the facility and doing well. Mrs. Lowery indicated that Jane was an acquaintance of her daughter. Jane had posted not only that Mrs. Lowery was doing well but had, without Mrs. Lowery's knowledge taken a picture and posted that on the social media site. You thought that everyone in your department understood the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) policy. However, in preparation to address this issue, you realize that you do not have any written policy for the use of cell phones or social media as they relate to the workplace. So, your task is to: Develop a policy for use of cell phones and social media regarding any connections to the job. This Assignment is NOT a General HIPAA Policy Make sure to include the following in your policy. Your policy document should include, at the minimum, the following: Header: to include the organization's name and to whom it applies. Date: the date when the policy was or will be effective. Title: the total content of the policy. Scope of the policy: to whom and what the policy applies Policy statement: why the policy is being created; include the detail of the cell phone and social media usage; who can use, where it can be used, why it can be used, what can be used for, and when it can be used Policy Compliance- details and consequence of failure to comply *Responsibilities: who will be responsible for compliance and who can provide information. Definitions: words that are not common should be clearly defined. References: information from other sources, if appropriate *Authority's approval: name and title of the person who approved the development and content of the policy *NOTE: For the purpose of this assignment, you have the creative right to create the names for any positions that would be part of your facility You are the manager of the small Westbrook In- Patient Dialysis Treatment Facility.
