Question:
You have a compound that has an elemental analysis that goes with the formula K2TaF7. You certainly would be able to tell the structure by single crystal X-ray crystallography, but what you have available is only F-19 NMR in solution. Would you be able to differentiate the three different geometries for coordination number 7 (assume they are not fluxional) based on the number of NMR chemical shifts and integrals and what would you expect to see for each geometry? (No need to go into the coupling patterns).
