You have been approached to design a machine for cutting potatoes into chips as shown in Figure $1.$ The machine should be able to cut potatoes into chips of a cross section size of about $88mm$ and lengths varying from $40$ to $80$ mm $.$ It should be electrically powered and able to produce $200$ kg of chips per hour. The potatoes are of various sizes and peeled by hand.
