You have been hired as a data analyst at the upcoming digital health and wellbeing company known as BetterEats. They are testing their new app which helps users plan their budgets for grocery shopping. The users health and fitness goals are to be taken into consideration while preparing the grocery shopping budget. The app will help users decide how much quantity of different food products to purchase such that their fitness goals are achieved in the week. Your manager has tasked you to think about how to formulate the budget problem as a decision- making model. The manager has suggested you to create a prototype of the decision-making model. The first step of designing the model involves creating a list of food items/options available to the user. Your manager suggests you to take a small list of items for the prototype. This will help in understanding the complexities of the model. The manager suggests the list of food items must be made by taking the following conditions into consideration,
(i) Select at least two protein rich materials (e.g. chicken, paneer, soya or fish)(ii) Select at least two green vegetables (e.g. beans, broccoli, spinach)
(iii) Select at least two fruits (e.g. apples, pear, papaya, pomegranate)
(iv) Select at least one type of flour (e.g. whole wheat, buckwheat, refined flour)(v) Select at least one type of rice or similar food item
You may take more items if you wish. Once the list is created, obtain estimates of their prices and nutritional compositions. The nutritional composition of each food item should comprise of its calorie content and four macros, protein, carbohydrate, fat and fibre. Please cite sources used to collect information on prices and nutritional composition. The dietician expert in the team has provided a list of requirements to be incorporated in the model,
1. Calorie count per day must not exceed 2000 calories
2. Protein must be at least 40% of daily meal consumption
3. Fat consumptions must not exceed 50 grams in a day
4. Fibre must be at least 30 grams
5. Carbohydrate must be less than 60% of daily calorie intake
Formulate the decision-making model for a user who wishes to minimize her expenditure on groceries.
