You must have .R or RStudio to do these problems. (I made a link to the .R files for each question)

the link for .R's website is here: https://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/

Maybe you have them already, I tried to convert them into .csv files (for Excel or Minitab which I prefer) but they didn't run then.

Question 1

In the script file "One-way ANOVA.R" found in the below attachment, the example concludes the ANCOVA without doing any follow-up comparisons even though the factor was significant. Were follow-up contrasts needed?

Question 2

Using the script file called "TwoWayBetween_ANOVA Diet data.R" attached below, where we look at the effects of type of diet and gender on weight change. We found no difference across the 3 diets for men, but they did differ in their effectiveness for women.

In that data set, there are 3 possible covariates that might be applied here: age, height, and initial. weight.

Run ANCOVAs using each of those possible covariates (one by one). You do that by changing line 124 in the posted script file to add the covariate before the right parentheses. Literally, insert "+ cov" without quotation marks and where cov is the name of the variable you want to use as the covariate.

How are the results affected, if at all?
