Case study

Task 1
Sketch 2 alternative concept designs for the system using Balsamiq Wireframes for Desktop. Each design should contain 5 different screens that capture the main parts of the system, including a home page. The two designs must be significantly different. Export all your wireframe designs to images to be used in a Word doc. After each screen write a short description (100-200 words) of the screen and the functionality.
The assessment should be organised as follows:
- Title page showing your name and student ID
- Home screen 1 design and description
- Design 1 screen 1 design and description
- Design 1 screen 2 design and description
- Design 1 screen 3 design and description
- Design 1 screen 4 design and description
- Home screen 2 design and description
- Design 2 screen 1 design and description
- Design 2 screen 2 design and description
- Design 2 screen 3 design and description
- Design 2 screen 4 design and description
Task 2
As part of your design process, you should indicate why these designs are a good solution for the case study in a report format (1500 words). The report should recommend one of your designs for further development and state why this design is recommended.
The accompanying report should follow your designs in the same word doc and is organised as follows:
- Selection and reasoning title page
- Selection and reasoning page 1
- Selection and reasoning page 2
Overview A major local company is interested in implementing a symposium planner system to help their staff and visitors plan and manage their symposium attendance. The company holds its symposium annually at the home city of one of its branches. It is usually a three-day event that involves several presentations, meetings, workshops, brainstorming sessions, in addition to a few keynote speeches and some recreational activities. All staff are required to attend the CEO's presentation and the two keynote speeches delivered by invited speakers. Team members are required to participate in two brainstorming sessions of their respective teams. Workshops are more pervasive, and staff can attend any workshop of their interest. There are usually twenty workshops that are run concurrently during the second day of the symposium. Each staff member is required to attend at least four workshops. Since workshops may be running in parallel and in smaller rooms, registration is required to attend any workshop. Recreational activities are optional, but staff are highly encouraged to attend them. They are usually held at external venues, such as restaurants, hotels, parks and/or entertainment facilities. Functional Requirements The system should implement the following main functions: 1. Agenda viewer: Allows an easy viewing of all symposium's activities, with the ability to filter and search for activities by time and location. 2. Symposium navigator: Guides participants through the symposium's venues using both outdoor and indoor maps with navigation guidance. 3. Event tracker: Allows participants to track the previous, current and upcoming events they attended or planning to attend. 4. Event registerer: Allows participants to register for events and edit or cancel their registration. Can also be used to check-in and check-out at the event venue. The registerer should only allow registration if seats are available and if there are no conflicts with other registered events. Physical Constraints The system should be implemented as a mobile application. A screen size of 5 inches with 720p HD resolution should be sufficient to use the system efficiently
