What is the writer's purpose, message, or theme? The main idea here is to show me that you read and understood what is going on in the text. Use verb signal phrases, especially with indirect quoted or paraphrased material.
• The second paragraph should be your reaction and response to the material.You will explore the significance of the reading and what you as a reader may have learned from it. The summary you write should show you reflected on the points of the author, whether you agree with the author or not and why. This exercise helps you develop opinions that may lead to a thesis or ideas that can be used to write an essay.Also write about how you can relate to the reading by giving your personal experience or how you view the issue by stating your opinion.
