You will be designing and implementing an internal web-based application for maintaining appointments, patient information and exercises for a small physical therapy clinic. The clinic has between 4 and 10 therapists working at any given time. Each therapist has patients that he/she is responsible for. This means setting up appointments and deciding on the exercises that should be done during each appointment. Various Notes in no particular order:

Appointments are scheduled up to a month at a time and at the time of the appointment the therapist fills in the exercises that were done (including how many reps, what weight or color of elastic band was used).

Each appointment is made in increments of 30 minutes, with any single appointment being no longer than 90 minutes. An initial appointment for evaluation is usually only 30 minutes, later ones are either 60 or 90 at the discretion of the therapist.

When a therapist logs in, he/she can only see his/her patients.

Patients do not see this, it is available only to the therapists, as such there does not need to be any fancy images or extraneous links. It needs to be easy for the therapists to navigate within the site and easy for them to find the information they need. Things must be labeled and organized in a way to facilitate the user.

Exercises are categorized for body part (shoulder, knee, wrist, etc). Other than that, if you know any or want to look them up fine, but you can also initially call them Should exercise 1 and so on. Each section will be more specific about what you should use when we do interviews.

You should have basic patient information, but you don't need to worry about insurance, payment or doctor's referrals. You should be able to print (ie display to a screen so that it could be printed) a list of patients and times for a particular day, a list of the exercises a patient did during a particular appointment, or all appointments, a list of all the therapists and how many patients they are currently working with, and maybe more. As you are designing this, please think about (and ask about) the kinds of things that would be helpful if you were doing this job.
