You will identify a design project aiming at providing creative solutions to a problem and improving livingconditions in their local community/environment (neighbourhood, city, former school, sports club, etc). You will subsequently develop your project through the inspiration and ideation stages using a range of designthinking techniques. Length: 2,500 words (+/-10%) This is a group task, so you need to organize yourselves in teams of 3-4 students from the same seminar group.Task: Working in teams, you will ideate, evaluate, develop, prototype, and communicate a solutionaimed at improving student wellbeing. The final solution should emerge through an iterative process of testing,evaluation, and reflection of preliminary versions of the idea. Your solution: Can address any one or more of the following topic areas: physical and mental health, emotional support, diversity, safety, community, and student participation. Can take any form. They can be a new or improved service, an awareness campaign, a new university policy, anapp, a piece of software, a device or other type of object, a space, etc. Must be evaluated in terms of its desirability (Do my users want it? Does it really solve a problem?), feasibility(Could the university or the Student Union realistically implement it), and viability (Is it financially sustainable?). Must be original Must be the outcome of a project in which solutions are evaluated and tested in an iterative process using designthinking methods. Teams are free to use any media they want to communicate their proposed solutions:printed (poster, leaflets, cards), video, animation, website and other ICT, t-shirts, 3D objects, etc. Marking will interview teams during the event in order to evaluate the design, as well as the underlyingrationale of the proposed solution. These interviews will be a key part of your assessment. Teams must bring tothe presentation any evidence showing how they have arrived at their final solution through prototyping, testing,and evaluating previous iterations of the idea (e.g. sketches, early feedback forms, notes from focus groups, etc.). Teams will be assessed on three criteria (see rubric below for furtherdetails): Evaluation of the idea (originality, desirability, feasibility, viability)Professionalism of the design processEffectiveness of the prototype to communicate the idea This is a team task, so every team will be given a common group mark based on the criteria above. Individualmarks, however, will also consider the relative contribution of students to their team. All students must attendthe prototype demonstration event; any non-attending students will not have completed the assignment and willbe recorded as a non-submission.
