You will look at the elements of developing a persuasive framing of an event using the narrative approach. A major element of Walter Fisher's use of a narrative as a rhetorical tool are events. A narrative helps the population make sense of their reality and can change their attitudes and behaviors. 

You must use this template to respond to the following items:

Criteria	Response
Select a recent event from a news article and include a link to that article.
Identify a narrative that the selected event supports the narrative storyline.
Identify previous events in the storyline and if any are referenced in an article.
Identify a position (in support of or competing narrative).
Identify at least one theme the event supports.

 

In addition, answer the following questions in short paragraphs. 

1. What is the connection of the event and the theme? Providing evidence or facts for your response.

1. Are you using the event similarly to previous times (consistent storyline)? Explain.
2. What would be an alternative framing to the event? Explain.
3. Are there opportunities to counter the storyline using the same event? Why or why not?
