You you will write one concept paper during the term that ideally, but optionally, will supplement your team's RFP development. This will serve to allow you to research information, analyses and techniques that are useful to understand IT RFPs, acquisition, integration, valuation, etc.. It should have a direct value to your learning and also might make a contribution to your progress on your team's RFP. Some possible information goals to investigate are:

A deeper analysis of the business process(es) of and the business model(s) for your team's RFP that involves extensive sources beyond our course materials.

A deeper analysis of the information technology and the valuation thereof that is involved in your RFP that involves extensive sources beyond our text.

A deeper analysis of the RFPs for your RFP that involves extensive sources beyond our course materials.

A deeper analysis than taken so far of a key concept in IT systems acquisition and integration, e.g., sourcing or life-cycles.

A deep analysis of a historical case in IT systems acquisition and integration, e.g., a case that went well or very wrong. Include what was done right, what was done wrong, what could have been done better and lessons learned.

Each paper should be between 5 and 10 pages long and incorporate material from the course and our text(s). The paper should also be based on material that you find in other books, publications, the library, the web, and/or develop from your own experimentation; that will involve you with extensive sources beyond our text and serves to deepen your analysis into the case into a graduate-level analysis and synthesis.

Each paper must have:

A title page with a meaningful title, your name, this course title, and an abstract.

An Introduction section, describing the issue or technique that you investigated.

A Method of Approach section, describing how you performed your investigation in enough detail so that another IT professional could duplicate what you did.

A Findings section, describing what you found in your investigation with appropriate citations to where you found it. If you have any doubt about citing references, over-cite them.

A Recommendations section, describing what in light of your findings that you recommend should be done to ensure quality of IT acquisition and integration in your team's RFP.

A Value section, describing the value, importance, and benefit of your findings and recommendations for both

A References and Bibliography section, listing the references and bibliographic citations used in your paper. Please pay significant attention to citing references and sources.

An Acknowledgements section, describing the use that you made of other people's help, including your instructor, classmates, friends, family members, co-workers, etc.
