This could mean learning about a topic that you know nothing about, learning about the historical development of a mathematical topic, learning about the mathematics of a different culture, learning about a mathematician, or even learning about the mathematics involved in a topic of interest to you. Depending on the topic you choose, you may need to learn some new mathematics to do this or you may need to look at mathematics you know from a different perspective.
