Freak was written and performed by John Leguizamo and directed by David Bar Katz. This was a live show filmed on Broadway at the Cort Theater in 1998. It is a one-person, autobiographical theatre piece. When you w r I t e your assignment please refer to it as that, or as a "play," not a film, and not stand up comedy. It is not a film even though the filming of it was directed by Spike Lee over two performances and then edited into one full performance.
