Your assignment this week:

1. Briefly (not more than one page), explain how you think a health care organization would go about prioritizing its' health information technology projects (what factors should they take into account, who they should consult, etc.). Consider that the projects may be short-term and long-term, such as planning the next phases of the EHR.

Note: As a resource for the above task, follow the link and review the IM/IT Strategic Plan for the province of British Columbia. This is an excellent example of a comprehensive regional IM/IT plan which discusses many of the concepts discussed in your course material. As you go through it, take note of these concepts, including mission, vision, values (guiding principles), and how they determined their strategic priorities.
