Your law class has been selected to go on a student exchange trip to Australia. En route
Question:
Your law class has been selected to go on a student exchange trip to Australia. En route to your destination, the plane is forced down. Luckily, all members of your class survive; however, the plane sinks into a deep-sea cavern, so there is no hope that radio signals will be able to broadcast the crash location to rescuers and the pilot is missing.
You manage to reach a nearby deserted tropical island, which has the resources necessary for survival (fruits, fresh water, wild game). Because the island is located in a remote part of the ocean, however, you're not likely to be rescued for many months. It is important to remember that all members of the class will be needed to ensure survival of the group and no person or group should be discriminated against (human rights).
Describe how your society will be organized and operate, the types of laws you will need to create and the rights and freedoms the members of your society will receive (ex. Story or journal format).
1.Who will be in charge? An individual or a group? How will this be organized? How will major decisions be made (vote, nomination, appointed council, or another way)? Will rule of law or rule of force apply?
2.What are the immediate and long-term priorities and goals of the group to ensure survival? How will resources be distributed and shared?
3.What are 5 important laws for the group (this will be the framework of a Constitution). What types of rights and freedoms should the group enjoy? Will there be reasonable limitations on these rights and freedoms? They should ensure the prevention of chaos and anarchy and establish civil and human rights.
4.What types of problems may develop between individuals and groups of people over time? How will the problems and grievances be solved? Provide examples.
5.What types of punishments/consequences will you create to help enforce your laws?
6.How will guilt be determined, how will punishments be given and how will punishments be enforced?
