Your Program Head has asked you to compile a short, informational report that provides the pros and

cons of implementing a student$-$led task force to address, educate, and support students affected by

gender$-$based harassment and$/$or violence. This task force would operate across all of BCIT$$s Lower

Mainland Campuses $($there are more than just Burnaby or Downtown$).$

Before you tackle this assignment, please familiarize yourself with this topic by completing some

independent research of your own. You will find news articles that cover this topic $($but please do

NOT use news or social media sources as your $$credible evidence$$ for your short report$).$

Do NOT use US statistics; they have different laws and have $10$X the population $$ keep your sources

Canadian and RELEVANT.

The Task

Students in various programs have been asked to complete preliminary INFORMATIONAL report on the pros and

cons of integrating this type of student$-$led task$-$force for BCIT$$s multiple campuses. YOU ARE NOT TO

RECOMMEND ANYTHING.

$$ Even though this is a short report based on preliminary research only $($no solutions$/$recommendations at

this point$),$ your findings will still be based on credible, objective evidence that must be relevant to

students in a post$-$secondary context $($not generic $$task force pros and cons$).$ Before you gather that

evidence, you will need to:

o Analyse your audience $($primary stakeholder $+$ any other audience the report$$s contents could

affect $($students$,$ staff$)$

Short Report Requirements

The report will be approx. $2-3$ written pages, single spaced, $11$ pt font $($not larger$)$ plus a Title$/$Cover Page and

References Page,, aligned left $($no indented paragraphs$),$ and must include the following. It must be professionally

packaged.

Formatting

$$ Introduction Heading

o Be sure to personalize this $$ you are writing to someone specific so write $$to$$ them, not $$about$$

them $($at least one full paragraph$)$

o This will preview what led up to this report $($your own inquiry into the topic in context with BCIT$)$

and will likely include research to support the purpose of the report. Be sure to cite in APA

o Pros $($secondary heading$)$: this is where you will identify and prove several pros for this idea and

will include a paragraph for EACH one $($integrate your research to provide credible evidence to

each of your claims$)$ there should be at least $3$ and not more than $5$

o Cons $($secondary heading$)$: as above but with the negative$/$challenges or problematic things to

consider

o Recap what you told them in the main body of the report $($don$$t offer any new information
