Your response must address the question asked (As with most things, there are those who believe globalization is a good thing and others who believe it is horrible. What do you think? Why? In one or two paragraphs state your beliefs regarding globalization and explain why you believe this); or you can respond with additional information. You can elaborate on the comment, provide an explanation to help a fellow student, or present a point of debate. You can agree or disagree with whatever has already been stated in the thread, as long as you back up your statement.
Here is what you need to respond to:
Just like everything else, I think globalization has its own pros and cons. It is totally understandable that there are people who think globalization is entirely a good or bad thing. However, I personally believe that globalization does more good than harm. Globalization has benefited many individuals, societies, firms, and countries and that can be seen in various aspects. As an example, information can now be accessed easier and faster. People now have the ability to utilize an extensive range of information, studies, and learning materials because of the facilitation of the movement across national boundaries brought about by globalization. Besides that, it also fosters innovation and creativity due to the competitiveness and cooperation that globalization stimulates between firms. Collaboration between businesses from around the globe on research and development initiatives can result in brand-new findings and creations that individuals can ultimately enjoy. From the perspective of goods and services, globalization has allowed a greater choice for consumers at reasonable prices. As a result, people have the chance to buy goods that were formerly out of reach or too expensive.
With that being said, just because globalization provides advantages, it does not necessarily mean that the disadvantages that globalization may cause should be ignored. One of the downsides of globalization is local businesses have been decreasing because they are not able to compete with the competitive prices. However, this is the sole reason why the government has set trade barriers such as tariffs, quotas, and subsidies. These barriers are set in place to protect domestic goods and services. Another primary disadvantage of globalization is cheap labor exploitation. Because of increased labor market rivalry brought on by globalization, wage rates have dropped, particularly for inexperienced employees. Because outsiders have no problem agreeing to work forless money, a greater number of individuals are losing occupations and the unemployment rate is growing.
To conclude, globalization has a lot of benefits to offer but the disadvantages should not be dismissed. The good and bad of globalization should be balanced out to ensure the quality of lives of everyone can be sustained and improved for a better future.
