The exterior oil cooler can maintain the sump temperature at 120°F for heat dissipation rates up to 1500 Btu/h. The load to be carried is 900 lbf at 3000 rev/min. The groove width is 1/4 in. Use nominal journal diameter d as one design variable and c as the other. Use Trumpler’s criteria for your adequacy assessment.
