The IRS Statistics on Income division accumulates information each year on the various types of businesses operating as partnerships. At irs.gov/taxstats, click “Partnerships,” and then click “By Sector of Industry.” Open the Microsoft Excel file for the most recent tax year available. For that year, sort and evaluate the data various ways to “dig deeper” into the various types of inudstries in which partnerships are used.

Write a memo to your instructor that describes some of the things you learned. For example, in which industries do you find the largest numbers of partnerships, the largest numbers of partners, and/or the largest concentration of gross and net assets? What conclusions can you draw? Support your findings with at least one graphic or chart prepared in Microsoft Excel.draw.
