Constructing a Control Chart for Infectious Diseases In each of 13 consecutive and recent years, 100,000 adults 65 years of age or older were randomly selected and the number who died from infectious diseases is recorded, with the results given below (based on data from “Trends in Infectious Diseases Mortality in the United States,” by Pinner et al., Journal of the American Medical Association, Vol. 275, No. 3).
